National Hunting and Fishing Days 2011

While my wife and daughter are doing the Crop Walk in Oswego, I'm heading over to the National Hunting and Fishing Days event at Silver Springs State Park. Kari said 95.9 FM The River (Rock) is supposed to be broadcasting from there, so that should be cool. I listen to them and their sister station, WCCQ (Country) regularly.

I never did get any details from IDNR about this weekend's events, but The River had a blurb on their site:

Northern Illinois Hunting and Fishing Expo 9/25

Join 95.9 The River for the Northern Illinois Hunting & Fishing Expo on Sunday, September 25th from 9am-5pm at Silver Springs State Park in Yorkville! (map)  It's a FREE event for the whole family with demonstrations from Master anglers, seminar booths, Kids Fishing Pond stocked with Bluegills, you can paddle your own canoe, climb a rock wall.  Don't forget the Archery Ranges with a 3D Shoot!  The River Road Crew will be out with music, games, and prizes. Scott Mackay will also be out that day from 12pm-3pm!

So there you have it. If I go you'll hear about it.

Ugh! It's not Open

I asked. I asked IDNR if the trap range would be open this weekend and...it's not. :-( It's closed for National Hunting and Fishing Day(s).

I also asked my IDNR contact about what's happening out there for NHFD this weekend and was pointed to the NHFD website. So...I currently have no clue about what's going on at Silver Springs this weekend.

If I hear about something I'll post it.

National Hunting and Fishing Day

Don't forget about National Hunting and Fishing Day at Silver Springs State Park. That's this weekend, September 24 and 25. Technically it's only September 24, but the park has it on their calendar for the 24th and 25th.

I don't have specific details on what's happening this weekend, but I understand last year Bass Pro Shops and other sponsors were out and there were opportunities to get introduced to trap shooting, fishing and archery. Please check the Illinois DNR website for details. All I know right now is there's no hunting at the park that Saturday and Sunday.

Hopefully the trap range is open. (I've asked, but haven't heard yet.)

Sold Another One, Trius 1-Step That Is

I sold one this weekend and two the previous weekend. The Trius 1-Step is an awesome manual target thrower and I swear I should keep a stock of them in my car, just so I could sell them on the spot.

As always, Midsouth Shooters Supply has the best price on them at $78.36 as of this morning.

It looks like there's a new Trius thrower, the TRIUS Trap Master 2. I think it would be more for me to transport, but I'd like to try it. I haven't found any video or reviews on it yet. If Lyman is willing, I'd love to review it. (Call me. ^_^)

I've seen several new shooters out at the range. I encourage it and love to see them, but they sometimes make me nervous. More on that soon.
