Well...for reasons that will someday become clear (but not just yet) I bought another shotgun. One of the reasons is so I have something my daughters are comfortable shooting with light load target shells other than my Benelli Nova. The other reason has to do with the mad scientist in me. More on that later.
I've acquired a NEF (H&R) Pardner 12 gauge single shot shotgun. H&R says the design has changed little since 1893 and it looks every bit of it...and that's a good thing. At $110 NIB it qualifies for shootin' ugli, but it also has a certain simple beauty to it.
I can't wait to get it out to the [Silver Springs] range, hopefully this Friday. It seems to have gotten good reviews on Youtube.com with the exception of one complaint about recoil due to the light weight. That reviewer was using 3" shells and dropped a few f-bombs after firing each round. I'm planning on using my favorite, Winchester Universal 2 3/4" 12 gauge shells at $22/100 round box at Wal-Mart or Blaine's Farm and Fleet. I'll post on that this weekend.
BTW - I forgot to mention the other week I picked up some bargain Federal FMJ 9mm Luger ammo at Wal-Mart. A 50 round box was just under $10. I try them out the next time I shoot my Glock. Get it while supplies last.
